Wellman Hill Political Science Internship Grants Informational Meeting - October 29, 2009, 6:30 p.m., Baker-Nord Room, Clark Hall Room 206

Dear Political Science Majors and Potential Majors,

The third annual competition for Wellman Hill Political Science Internship Grants will begin in mid-November. The grants are made possible by a generous gift from Elizabeth Hill (B.A., M.A. 1997) to honor her grandfather, Wellman Hill. They are intended to enable Political Science majors to accept public service summer internships that financial limitations might otherwise force them to decline. The 2010 selection committee is prepared to award five students up to $4000 each. Details about the program and last year’s application process are available on the department's website (http://politicalscience.case.edu/wellman/index.htm), and this year’s rules, deadlines and application (which might be slightly different from last year’s) will be posted soon.

I’m writing now for two important reasons:

First, I’ll be hosting an informational meeting (with pizza) on Thursday, October 29 at 6.30 p.m. at the Baker-Nord Center in Clark Hall. Last year’s recipients will be there to talk about their experiences and offer hints for this year’s applicants. In addition, a representative from the Career Center will discuss the services the center offers for assisting candidates in their search for internships and improving their chances of winning a Wellman Hill grant.

  • Informational Meeting:
    October 29, 2009
    6.30 p.m.
    Baker-Nord Center in Clark Hall
Pizza and drinks will be served.
Second, the Wellman Hill application requires that students find their own internships. At the time of applying, you will only need to list the internships to which you have applied or intend to apply. Nevertheless, the deadlines for some public service summer internships are quickly approaching. I encourage you to begin your search now!

Please don't hesitate to contact me with questions regarding the Wellman Hill program. I hope to see many of you at the informational meeting.
Best,
