A Political Science major who has a minimum GPA of 3.8 in Political Science
and 3.3 overall, and who receives a grade of A in POSC 396, "Senior Project
SAGES Capstone," can receive his or her
degree "with Honors in Political Science." Students should notify the
Department of their interest in Honors so we can inform the Registrar.
Students who wish to receive honors and do POSC 396 in the Spring semester
need to ensure that the project is complete in time for the department to
notify the registrar that requirements have been met. Students who entered the university prior to Fall, 2006 have the option of earning honors under an equivalent of the rules previously in effect. Under those rules, honors could be earned with an overall departmental GPA of 3.7. However, the student must complete a two-semester honors project. Such a project may be concluded by taking one semester of POSC 395 in addition to POSC 396. A faculty member must agree to supervise both POSC 395 and POSC 396, and all the usual rules for those courses, such as submission of a prospectus, must be followed. |
