POSC Professor Kathryn C. Lavelle Named One of the 2010 Spotlight Award Winners & Women of Achievement by the CWRU Flora Stone Mather Center for Women

This annual award celebrates and recognizes the achievements of women faculty members at Case Western Reserve University. This award honors one woman from each school at Case Western Reserve University for her excellence in research and scholarship. Each recipient is chosen by her affiliated school. This year Professor Kathryn C. Lavelle was chosen by the College of Arts and Sciences for this distinguished award.

Kathryn Lavelle is the Ellen and Dixon Long Associate Professor of World Affairs in the Department of Political Science. Her research specializes in the politics of finance. She has received a Congressional Fellowship from the American Political Science Association where she served on the staff of the House Committee on Financial Services, a Fellowship from the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and a Fulbright Visiting Chair at the University of Toronto.

She is the author of The Politics of Equity Finance in Emerging Markets (Oxford University Press), and Legislating International Organization: the U. S. Congress, the IMF, and the World Bank (forthcoming, Oxford University Press). Dr. Lavelle’s publications have appeared in Perspectives on Politics, International Organization, Review of International Organizations, The Journal of Modern African Studies, Third World Quarterly, Review of International Political Economy, International Journal of Political Economy, International Studies Review and The Columbia Journal of World Business.
