Mamadi Jallow ’21, a third Wellman Hill grant recipient, has spent his summer working in Congressman José Serrano’s district office in the 15th District of New York. Mamadi recently helped plan a NASA community event to encourage students in the Bronx to pursue STEM based jobs. Here he is (second from the left) pictured with Congressman Serrano’s staff and NASA astronaut Joe Acaba.

He describes more of his work below:

It’s been fun and incredibly rewarding so far. They’ve given me a lot of choice in what I want to work on and research. I’ve been allowed to sit on during meetings with NGOs like UNICEF and other Bronx based organizations and give my input, and there’s a lot of immigration case work so that’s fun to be a part of!

Wellman Hill Political Science Internship Grants

Wellman Hill Political Science Internship Grants are made possible by a generous gift from Elizabeth Hill (B.A., M.A. 1997) to honor her grandfather, Wellman Hill. They are intended to encourage Political Science majors to pursue and accept public service summer internships. One of the goals is to open public service career possibilities to students whose access to such internships might be limited by financial constraints or other circumstances.
